This is 55 mile (88 km) route from Brecon to Cardiff. It is mostly off road on canal paths and forest tracks, and can be done in a day if you are fit. You can go as far as you like and get us to pick you and your bikes up and bring you back to Bridge Cafe with your bike if you book two nights here.
The route is fairly flat to Talybont on Usk, then you have a long gentle climb to Torpantau where you come out of the forest to a mountain road about 15 miles from Brecon. From here the route is mainly down and flat to Cardiff, so this is the easiest way to do the route. There are several places to get food and drink, the first at Talybont, then the tea rooms at Pontsticill. The route follows an old railway line from Merthyr to Pontypridd, and continues to Taffs Well and past Castle Coch, before crossing the M4 and taking a pleasant green route right down to the bay at Cardiff.
You need a hybrid or gravel bike ideally, although some people ride it on a sturdy road bike or tourer.
You can find more information on the route on the Sustrans website.
